The Annual day of Paras World School India

16.12.2018 - 07:55

Paras World School on its Annual day on 8th December 2018 presented a contemporary play called "A Tale of Time." The play was conceived after a brainstorming session with all the teachers at the school. The show was written and directed by celebrated artist, Farhad Colabavala. A musical with a deep message on a topic which is probably one of the burning issues in today's world. It gave a strong message to the young millennials, the parents, and the rest of the audience.

Today technology is all-encompassing and consuming and has become an essential part of our everyday life. However, the play highlights the positive and dark side of Technology, with its ramifications on physical and mental health and our well-being. Unfortunately, today a lot of us have become less friendly towards other humans but, can’t function without our gadgets. In today’s day and age, technology has become a critical tool in evolution; changing our lives every second. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, machine learning, and robotics envelop our lives and reflect human curiosity and creativity. Today when we open our eyes, we go straight to Facebook & other social media platforms as compared to an earlier time when we would meet and greet each other. How our day will pass and our own self-worth is determined by the number of followers and likes we get on our posts.

The play starts with Angels, Guardians & Superheroes, collectively known as ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy’ coming together, to review different planets across the galaxy. During the course of their review, they look at Planet Earth first in the year 1988 and then 30 years later, in the year 2018. During their latest review of planet Earth, they are introduced to the concept of Technology and its positive side which is highlighted to them by the One-eyed Angel. This is countered by the ‘Other Side of the coin’ angel’s perspective that shows them the Dark Side of Technology. Superheroes are sent in to rescue humans from their addictions and indifference but they themselves get entwined in this maze of technology.

The play brings out a strong message that technology, per se, is not bad but we as humans need to find the right balance so that we who created technology, remain its masters and don’t end up becoming slaves to this tool!
